New Cat on the Block

Bobby and Beaker

Rabit-tude at its Best!

We have two rabbits now.  Previously we had two beautiful guinea pigs called Daisy and Lola, but the winter hit them hard and sadly one died two days before New Years Eve and the other on New Years Eve.  The reason I tell you this is because it took us a long time to get over the death of guinea pigs, so the hutch lay empty for quite some time before we decided to fill it once again with Bobby the rabbit.

Bobby

We didn’t plan on getting a rabbit, we actually went to buy two new guinea pigs, but instead we adopted Bob our loveable uber-cool half English, half lop eared rabbit who was just over one years old.  Bobby is now huge and just oozes coolnesss- not much phases Bobby, not even a bouncing labrador.  Bob wasn’t without excitement when he joined us.  He used to pee on me to mark me as his territory!  Luckily he is now over this because at one point I was changing my clothes three times a day!

Not long after Bobby joined the family, Mr Dolittle bought him a new hutch from a friend at work.  We now had a spare hutch and Mrs Dolittle decided she needed a new rabbit to go in the old hutch…. Mr Dolittle is very tolerant of Mrs Dolittle.  That’s when our Beaks arrived.

Beaker

Is so called because he has real bug eyes which makes him look exactly like Beaker from the Muppet Babies (“Me I event things, me, me, me! Is everybody alright in here?  Yes Nanny…. Muppet Babies dah do do do di dah”).  Mr Dolittle hates the name but my sister and Muppet Baby companion when young, gets why I named him Beaker even if no one else does.

Beaker is a scatty rabbit once out of his hutch.  However at night or when he hasn’t been fed at his usual time, he thumps his hutch like a mad man.  Some nights he gets so cross at goodness only knows what, that he just thumps the hell out of his hutch for no reason at all.  So much so a couple of weeks ago I had to get out of bed, go outside and shout out him to stop!  He didn’t listen needless to say!  This is a rabbit with real rabit-tude!  He is fab though all the same and gives the best cuddles once picked up.  He is just like a cat!

The Rampage

Bobby and Beaker used to be able to run around in our outside area, but after a 48 hour rampage through our small flourishing garden decapitating and eating most of our plants, frightening the dog and refusing to go back in their hutches, they now join us in the front room when they are being cleaned out!

We love both our boys for their unique personalities, beautiful faces and bags of rabit-tude!
